oh yeah, June also licensed Yoneda Kou’s Soredemo, Yasashii Koi o Suru.  I dunno how many people are ecstatic about that considering their job with Doushitemo and the translation for Saezuru seems to be equally disappointing.

I’m not sure if I’ll get it - on one hand I already have the English version of Doushitemo so it’ll be good to get the accompanying Soredemo in English too. An estimated release date doesn’t seem to have been given so I guess I’ll have a while to think about it.

SuBLime announced the other day that they have licensed Yamashita Tomoko’s Sankaku Mado no Sotogawa wa Yoru (The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window)!

The Night Beyond the Tricorner Window is a supernatural manga following the story of a book store employee, who from long ago watch strange things through a triangle window, and an exorcist who are forced to be together.

The series is currently on-going with one volume released. SuBLime will release the first volume digitally March 2015!
I didn’t realise it was only a digital only release until today so I’m utterly gutted to find out. I was so excited to have another Yamashita Tomoko book on my bookshelf…! I’ll still buy it though, since I haven’t read anything by her in a while.

Anonymous sent: Hi! (I love your blog to pieces btw!!) I was wondering if you could help me out. My "type" is hard to come by you see, and being as well read as you are, I was hoping you could recommend some titles off the top of your head that include pretty boys with long hair (preferably adults > v < kind of like sho from akuma wa hohoemu) I totally understand if your busy. Thanks for your time anyway! x

I can think of a couple of titles that fit your request, but I wouldn’t recommend them at all lol.

If you don’t mind teenagers, Yumeka Sumomo has some (Same Cell Organism, The Day I Become a Butterfly). Hoshino Lily has some stuff too, from what I remember - not sure if they’re worth reading or not but I have nothing else to offer.

You could also watch Kono Danshi, Ningyo Hiroimashita, hehe.

Anonymous sent: Hi, I was wondering if you or your followers could help me with a bl manga title? I remember it took place mostly on an empty train, and they would see each other every day but never talk to one another. At one point one of the guys decided to talk to the other and love blossomed from there. Later on one stopped going on the train randoml, and the other got lonely/worried but I think they did end up together.

No idea, sorry! I feel like I read something like this recently but it was on a bus instead - pretty generic plot tbh.

Can any of my followers help anon here?

One is Enough by Love

This is a really old post (over a year and a half ago ^________^;;;;;;;) I had lying in my drafts but I figured I might as well post it now since GEN Manga has published a print edition! This review was based on the original digital compilation of the serialized version.

I have read many Yakuza BL Mangas, but this (Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai) is outstanding in its level of perfection. If it’s possible to seize an opportunity, this can possibly transcend the limitation of the (BL) genre.
by Suzuki Tomohiko, freelance journalist specializing in Yakuza

This month’s “Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai” … It had a good sense of tension in the sex scene as well as the conflict between Yakuzas. There should be no one who wouldn’t become “EH?” in the last scene. If you exclude the part about men does it with men, the quality of the work as a Yakuza Manga is extremely high. There is no need for more reality. I hope she draws the struggle for power until the very end like this. I look forward to it!

There is a possibility that “Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai” will capture men in general as readers. The key is that, if you think of Yashiro’s action as a pervert but not gay, then the excuse (of not being able to associate with the BL scenes) will become an insignificant excuse. On top of it, the conflict scene is entertaining. I have read many Yakuza BL Mangas, but this is outstanding in its level of perfection. If it’s possible to seize an opportunity, this can possibly transcend the limitation of the (BL) genre.

What would the BL Manga lovers feel about increase in fans from new group? Yoneda Kou-san may prefer to stay within the genre of BL. But since this is so entertaining, I feel sorry that this is buried within a particular frame. When I started reading (BL Mangas) out of curiosity, I was underestimating that there will be no good Mangas. However, there was “Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai”

from Suzuki Tomohiko’s twitter 7 Aug 2014

————————————————————————

Wow! an expert’s comment on “Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai”! he recently discovered the work and immediately got fascinated by it, as I wrote in my previous post.

I’ve got mixed feelings about general men starting to read BLs, but we can’t stop anyone from loving this great work. Although I am a Manga reader in wide genre, I was not interested in Yakuza genre before reading this, so I understand BL lovers who stay away from Saezuru. Most Yakuza Manga lovers, majority of them men, will probably avoid BL at all costs. Let’s face it, Yakuza BL is a narrow genre.

Saezuru is starting to attract attention from people who aren’t so interested in the narrow genre, and Suzuki is confident that this work is so good, it can go further and become popular to the general public. I’m happy for Sensei, that one of the few experts in the Yakuza field regards this work highly.

Obviously we all have the right to enjoy the work as we like, as a love story, as art work, as BL porn, hardcore violence or whatever. But Saezuru can be enjoyed in many levels, and not many BLs can be appreciated in this manner.

I can’t stop thanking Yoneda Sensei to create such an outstanding work in many ways!! love you Sensei<3<3<3

Great news for BL gamers!

After one of their translators leaking some hints about a possible translation for Pa-rade’s successful BL game a while back (see last paragraph), Mangagamer finally announced at Anime Expo 2014 three new game categories, BL games being one of them, as well as their first BL localization: No Thank You!!!

"We’re partnering up with pa-rade to bring the brand new BL-game, No, Thank You!! – a BL-game both women and men can enjoy!

When the protagonist saves a man from an out-of-control car, he loses his memories in the accident. With no means of identification on him, the man he rescued takes responsibility for him and brings him to a little bar on the outskirts of downtown call ‘sotano’.

Here at this cozy-looking jazz bar, the newly named Haru begins working as an apprentice bartender while hitting on his male coworkers and thrusting his way deeper into the dark side of their business–serving as detectives who take on cases even the police and legitimate agencies won’t touch.”

It would make No Thank You!!! the first major Japanese BL game getting an official English release since JAST USA’s localization of Enzai and Absolute Obedience back in 2006.
